Who we are

About Us

Our planet is warming, and the future seems uncertain. But in the face of this challenge, hope burns bright in the hearts of Somali youth. We are the Somali Youth Climate Association (SOYCA), and we’re rising to meet the climate crisis head-on. Since 2022, we’ve been empowering young Somalis to become the changemakers their communities need. Through education, advocacy, and hands-on projects, we’re building a greener, more resilient Somalia. Join us and together, we’ll turn the tide on climate change and create a brighter future for all. SOYCA operates on the core principles of open dialogue,
collaborative action, and global solidarity. We foster open discussions
on climate issues among youth and women, empowering them to
become informed advocates. By forging partnerships with local
communities, NGOs, and international organizations, we amplify
our impact and address shared environmental challenges beyond
borders. Join us in building a sustainable future, Participate in our educational programs, volunteer in collaborative community projects, or join our
online forum to share your ideas.

How Are We Different

Our mission is to empower Somali youth to be catalysts for positive change in the face of climate change. Through comprehensive education, dynamic advocacy, and impactful community initiatives, we aim to instill a sense of environmental stewardship, resilience, and sustainable practices among our youth. By fostering active participation, promoting dialogue, and empowering women in environmental leadership, we envision Somalia where every individual is equipped and inspired to contribute to a resilient and environmentally conscious society.

Our Vision

In envisioning the future, Somali Youth Climate Association (SOYCA) strives
for a Somalia where empowered youth play a pivotal role in building a
resilient and environmentally conscious society. We aspire to see our youth
not only as advocates for sustainable practices but as leaders driving positive
change at local, national, and global levels. Through education, advocacy, and
community engagement, we aim to create an environment where every
individual is equipped to address climate challenges and contribute to a
sustainable and harmonious world.
